Preface

There have been so many methodologies in the last 3 decades, but none of them take software testing as the starting point and yet, software testing is the last frontier before a product is released on a production environment.

Software testing is there to “realise the truth” about the product, to realise if it was built according its specifications (Verification) and to realise it was built as the customer intended (Validation).

The methodology we therefore created is called Bona Iqiniso, which is isiZulu for realise the truth.

The components that describe a methodology are: Phases (life cycle), Methods (practices, processes, activities, tasks), Qualitative techniques (quality characteristics and attributes), Quantitative techniques (metrics), and Paradigms (standards, guidelines, examples)

The reason why we created a methodology is because we know that software testing is part of something bigger, but by limiting the field of knowledge to software testing we can concentrate on making this software testing as efficient and effective as possible.
